2026.7.24 – “Tenjin Festival Zero Waste Campaign 2026 – Volunteer Activity” (Job Hunting Seminar)

The Osaka Tenjin Festival, one of Japan’s three major festivals, attracts huge crowds and countless food stalls every year. At the 7th ‘Zero Waste Campaign,’ which aims to reduce waste by promoting an ecosystem of reuse, reduce, and recycle, a total of 20 students from J International School, mainly from the Business Class, participated as volunteers.

On July 24, the eve of the main festival, after finishing their morning classes, the students gathered at the venue at 5:00 p.m. They worked alongside many Japanese volunteers, including volunteer leaders and staff members, discussing, cooperating, and carrying out volunteer activities for three hours. The participants were divided among four eco-stations in the area north of Sakuranomiya Bridge, where they were responsible for operating the stations.

Although the weather was hot and humid, mosquitoes were everywhere, and the crowds continued to grow as night fell, making the work quite challenging, the students were deeply impressed by the purpose of the volunteer activity as well as the enthusiasm and sincerity of the other participants. They naturally became more enthusiastic themselves, actively calling out to festival visitors in loud voices to encourage their cooperation.
