2026.2.22 Field Study “Osaka Marathon Volunteer Experience”
A total of 17 participants, mainly from the Business Class, joined the volunteer activities at “Osaka Marathon 2026” as Team J International School. Although February in Osaka is supposed to be very cold, the day turned out to be unseasonably warm. It may have been tough for the runners, but it was perfect weather for volunteering. We were engaged in managing the roadside course, organizing spectators, and supporting the runners.
As in the previous year, we were in charge of Zone 61 in the Shinsaibashi area, so the leading group arrived shortly after 9:30 a.m. We consulted with the Japanese area leader and spoke with the police officers along the route. Since the area attracts many foreign tourists, we did our best by making full use of not only our Japanese skills but also other foreign languages.
The sight of so many runners racing together was truly spectacular. We also developed a sense of being part of an important international marathon event. It is said that new event records were set in both the men’s and women’s divisions this year.
Through this social experience, where many people cooperating to carry out and successfully complete a big project, we gained many lessons and valuable insights.
