2024.3.7 The second J-1 Grand Prix
We held the “J-1 Grand Prix,” a debate competition for Advanced II classes. In our school’s advanced class, we have debates in our conversation class, and it was an opportunity for students to practice what they had learned on a daily basis with Japanese local people. The followings are the themes this year.
“There is an opinion that it is better to remove the read function on SNS apps as it causes various interpersonal troubles. Do you agree or disagree with this opinion?”
“There is an opinion that in order to make Japanese easier and more acceptable to the world, we should eliminate kanji and use only hiragana and katakana. Do you agree or disagree with this opinion?”
The students seemed nervous as they had a debate with Japanese people, but they did their best to convey their opinions well based on their preparation. We also received comments from the Japanese volunteers who took part, such as “Everyone was so proactive” and “I could see that they were studying Japanese very hard.”
Thank you very much for your participation.
