2025.2.25 Field Study “Volunteering at Osaka Marathon”
On February 24th, the J International School team participated as volunteers in the Osaka Marathon for the first time in several years since the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a cold day with snow falling, and there were a total of 18 students. We were in charge of Shinsaibashi Area 61, so before the leading group arrived around 9:30, we had to prepare the roadside along the marathon course, answer questions from many spectators, and handle any unexpected events. We consulted with the Japanese leader of the area instructors, talked with the police along the roadside, and worked hard using not only our Japanese skills but also foreign languages, as there were many foreign tourists in the area. The sight of so many runners was spectacular, and we felt a sense of being part of an important event in international marathons. We learned a lot from this social experience and gained many insights.
