2024.1.24 “Welcoming a guest speaker” (Job Hunting Seminar)
We welcomed Ms. Etsuko Tomari, a former staff member at Recruit Co., Ltd. She was a pioneer in sales management who cultivated many sales opportunities at Recruit and currently runs Red Point Ltd. She started her own business based on her experience and has been consulting for organizational sales and human resource development for small and medium-sized enterprises. For companies, “Sales” are at the forefront of business. She told us about the relationship between the individual and the organisation, and the best part of “Sales”, which it how sales team can bring the best out of its team member. According to her, she didn’t think she was suited for sales at first and it took her a year before she could be confident, but sales awakened her “trait” of “being willing to challenge the unknown despite some risk”. The students, who were just undertaking a self-analysis in class, seemed inspired by her. It was an opportunity to reconsider how they can utilise their strengths at Japanese companies which are open to diversity in the future.
Today society is changing rapidly with the development of information technology and computer science. The students will give a presentation to business people two months later. The question is “how sales and customer service can be changed in the future and what it is that only human beings can do”.
